It’s been a strange year due to COVID-19 and many of our meetings and events have had to be cancelled but the Association’s Competition Clay Shoots managed to go ahead over six weeks from July to August. Held on Thursday evenings with Blackpool Sporting Clays opening specially for LDWA, members, friends and family came out to compete and have a catch up, and mostly managed to socially distance!!
Alongside the shooting, various tasting events were enjoyed by members from gin tasting, port and cheese, ale and pie and finally a BBQ, expertly cooked by Andy Finch.
Nine trophies were up for grabs over the six weeks with two new trophies added this year. The ‘Alan Walker Memorial Trophy’ was commissioned in memory of Alan, a valued member of LDWA who died in May and the Tolley Cup, for a new 10 bore competition held on the final evening.
The winners were:
Trophy | Winner | Score |
Victor Annand Trophy | Andy Finch | 27 |
Tom Martin Shield | Andy Finch | 22 |
Billy Colhoun Trophy | Andy Finch | 26 |
Walter & Eric Carlisle Trophy | Sean Wood | 27 |
A B Blackhurst Trophy | Stephen Wood | 27 |
Alan Walker Memorial Trophy | Stephen Wood | 26 |
Entwistle (Handicap) Cup | tbc | |
Junior Higham Trophy | Ciaran Goodman | 18 |
Tolley Cup – 10 bore competition | Victor Annand | 21 |
It’s not yet clear if we will be able to have an End of Season Shoot Meal in 2021 but the trophies will be presented somehow at the end of the season. Well done to all the winners and a massive thank you to all the members and friends who have supported these events through sunshine and rain. Thanks also to the organisers and scorers who have turned out every week.
